Photos of the Week: Ringed Horizons

We continue to get magnificent vistas of Saturn thanks to the Cassini spacecraft. The icy moon Enceladus floats above the magnificent ring system in the photo on the left, released today. In an image released yesterday, Dione is eclipsed by the rings of Saturn as seen edge-on. This image is a great demonstration of how thin the rings really are. The F-ring is the bright line you see in the picture, while the rest of Saturn’s rings are so thin, they mask out a tiny dark line going through the center.
